The Self-Taught Engineer

I write a newsletter all about software engineering at theselftaughtengineer.org and if you are interested in software development, architecture, or getting into the industry, I encourage you to check out that blog. This website may feature some discussions about software development, but whenever I want to write something technical it will always be on The Self-Taught Engineer.

Why I started an educational software development blog

I started The Self-Taught Engineer because I greatly enjoy programming and teaching software engineering. It’s such a deep, deep field and you could go on endlessly covering topics in just one very niche specialty, like web application security. In addition, while I’ve been programming for just over 10 years now(!), I just started my first software development job only four months ago, so I’m learning so much and I often find myself needing an outlet to vent all of this information to.

I have strong opinions about the future of software development, that many other professionals in my career disagree with (including my manager), so The Self-Taught Engineer blog is a good place for me to write about the software engineering career outlook.
